GOOD TO GO™ DAILY DRILL BY FUNSHO BABS
TOPIC:
COMPOUNDING THE ORIGINAL SIN
⚓ ANCHOR TEXTS
Job 34:37 (KJV)
“For he addeth rebellion unto his sin...”
Numbers 16:12 (KJV)
*"And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up.'"*
✍️ It is one thing to commit sin; it is another thing to be remorseful and repentant. But there is an even more dangerous response—to become defiant, unrepentant, and unsubmissive when confronted with our wrongdoing.
In our first anchor text, Elihu accused Job of adding rebellion to his sin. Although Elihu's judgment of Job was ultimately inaccurate, his statement reveals a timeless spiritual principle: sin becomes even more dangerous when it is defended rather than confessed.
Our second text comes from the rebellion of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. After challenging God's appointed leadership, Moses graciously summoned Dathan and Abiram to appear before him.
> Numbers 16:12
“...which said, We will not come up.”
Their refusal was more than declining an invitation; it was open defiance of God's constituted authority. Their rebellion reached its tragic climax when the earth opened and swallowed them, their families, and all that belonged to them (Numbers 16:31–33).
Often, the greatest problem is not the initial sin but the refusal to respond to correction. A heart that hardens itself against godly rebuke moves closer to destruction.
Rebellion is:
1. A defiant reaction to correction.
2. A rejection of the authority of God's Word over life's issues.
3. A rejection of divinely constituted authority.
Proverbs 29:1 (KJV)
“He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.”
The permanent solution to man's greatest problem is the acceptance of Jesus Christ.
Our sin brought condemnation, but God has graciously provided His Son as the remedy. Those who reject Christ reject God's only provision for salvation. That is why Jesus said:
> "He that believeth not is condemned already..." (John 3:18)
Jesus is God's righteousness. To reject Him while attempting to establish our own righteousness through self-effort or legalism is rebellion against God's saving grace.
The outright rejection of divinely revealed truth is rebellion. Sin separates us from God, but persistent rejection of His offer of salvation leaves a person under that condemnation.
That is the tragic progression Elihu described—adding rebellion to sin.
*DECLARATION*
I receive a humble and teachable heart. I will not harden my heart against God's correction or reject His truth. I embrace Christ, God's perfect righteousness, and I walk in obedience to His Word. In Jesus' name, Amen.
