 WHEN GOD TURNS BACK TIME

ANCHOR TEXTS:

Isaiah 38:7–8; 2 Kings 20:8–11; Joshua 10:12–13 (KJV)

*«"Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward..." —*

Isaiah 38:8»

✍️The Bible records two extraordinary miracles involving the sun and time.

In Joshua's day, God stopped time so His people could complete their victory.

In Hezekiah's day, God turned time backward as a sign of healing, restoration, and mercy.

One miracle suspended time.

The other reversed time.

Both reveal one eternal truth:

God is not governed by time; time is governed by God.

THE DRILL

Time is one of life's greatest limitations. We cannot relive yesterday, retrieve lost opportunities, or naturally reverse the aging process. Every second that passes is gone forever. Yet, the God we serve is not subject to time. He is the Ancient of Days, the Alpha and the Omega, the One who sees the end from the beginning.

Joshua faced an enemy that required more daylight. He prayed, and God stopped the sun over Gibeon and the moon over the valley of Ajalon until Israel secured victory.

Years later, Hezekiah faced a different enemy—death itself. After receiving the prophetic announcement that he would die, he turned his face to the wall and prayed. Before Isaiah had left the palace, God reversed the verdict, added fifteen years to the king's life, and caused the shadow on the sundial of Ahaz to move backward ten degrees.

Joshua needed more time.

Hezekiah needed more life.

God supplied both because He is Lord over time.

The sundial reminds us that God can restore what time has taken away. Lost opportunities, delayed dreams, broken relationships, declining health, and wasted years are never beyond His restorative power.

Joel 2:25 declares:

*«"And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten."»*

Notice that God did not merely promise to restore crops; He promised to restore years. Only the Creator of time can redeem time.

However, there is an even greater miracle.

Joshua eventually died.

Hezekiah eventually died.

But Jesus Christ entered time, conquered sin, defeated death, and rose again to give eternal life. Joshua stopped the sun. Hezekiah saw the shadow move backward. Jesus conquered the grave itself.

He does more than add years to life.

He adds eternal life to everyone who believes in Him.

Today, do not surrender to the verdict of the clock. God's calendar is greater than man's calendar. When God steps into a situation, delay is not denial, and what appears irreversible can become a testimony.

---

THINGS TO NOTE

• God controls time; time does not control God.

• Prayer can alter the course of destiny.

• Mercy can accomplish what merit never could.

• God can restore lost years and missed opportunities.

• Every delay is not a denial.

• God's purpose is greater than your timeline.

• Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of time and the Giver of eternal life.

PRAYER DRILL

Father, thank You because You are the Lord over time and eternity.

Every area where time has worked against me, let Your mercy reverse it in Jesus' Name.

Restore every wasted year, every lost opportunity, every delayed blessing, and every forgotten promise.

Like Joshua, grant me victory over every battle before me.

Like Hezekiah, let every negative verdict over my life be overturned by Your mercy.

Lord Jesus, help me to redeem the time and to spend every day You give me for Your glory.

Let my life become a testimony that nothing is impossible with the God who controls time.

In Jesus' mighty Name, Amen.

“When God commands time, yesterday's losses become tomorrow's testimonies. The God who stopped the sun and turned back the shadow is still able to turn every situation around.”

DECLARATION

I serve the God who rules over time. My times are in His hands. Every wasted year is being restored, every delayed promise is coming to fulfillment, and every impossible situation is turning around for my good. I refuse to be limited by the clock because my God is the Lord of time and eternity. Through Jesus Christ, my future is secure, my purpose is established, and my testimony shall manifest. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Good morning, are we good to go?
