THE  INIQUITY OF MY SIN

⚓ ANCHOR TEXTS

Psalm 32:5 (KJV)

“I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.”

Psalm 51:2 (KJV)

"Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin."

✍️ Yesterday, we looked at three key words: SIN, TRANSGRESSION, and INIQUITY.

Today, we are examining a profound phrase in Scripture that combines two of those words.

In our anchor text, David uses the expression: "the iniquity of my sin."

This remarkable phrase reveals that God does not merely address the sinful act; He also deals with the corrupt condition that produced it.

Many people seek forgiveness for sin, but few seek cleansing from iniquity. God desires to do both.

The Iniquity of my sin also means the guilt and consequences attached to my sin.

Sin is missing God's standard.

Transgression is the deliberate crossing of God's known command.

Iniquity is the inward bent, twisted nature, or moral corruption that continually produces sinful actions.

A sinful act can be forgiven, but if the root of iniquity remains untouched, the same pattern is likely to repeat itself. This is why David prayed not only for pardon but also for purification.

God is not interested in trimming the branches while leaving the root alive. He wants to uproot the very source of our rebellion and replace it with a new heart that delights in His will.

True repentance therefore goes beyond saying, "Lord, forgive what I did." It also cries, "Lord, change who I am. Remove every root of iniquity from my heart."

When God heals the root, the fruit changes. When the heart is cleansed, the life is transformed.

Today, allow God to deal with both the root and the fruits of your sin.

Appropriate the finished work of Christ and continually yield to the Holy Spirit. As you do, He will not only forgive your sins but also transform your heart.

DECLARATION / PRAYER

Father, I acknowledge my sins before You. Wash me thoroughly from every iniquity and cleanse me from every sin. Remove every evil root that continually produces disobedience in my life. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

I declare that my old man is crucified with Christ. I have a new nature. I am cleansed by the blood of Jesus. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Good morning! Are we Good to Go?
