GOOD TO GO™ DAILY DRILL BY FUNSHO BABS
WHEN YOU ARE DEPRESSED
// ZIKLAG MOMENTS //
⚓ ANCHOR TEXTS
1 Samuel 30:1–7 (KJV)
"So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives... Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep... And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him..."
✍️ Low moments are inevitable in the journey of life and destiny. No one is always strong, and no one wears a smile every day.
There will be circumstances beyond our control that remind us that God alone is the sovereign Controller of all things. Such seasons force us to look up to Him. They reveal our vulnerability and deepen our dependence on God. These are ZIKLAG MOMENTS.
Just as David and his men stood at Ziklag counting and mourning their losses, there are seasons when we experience similar pain, disappointment, and grief.
However, the Scriptures show us practical steps for navigating ZIKLAG MOMENTS.
The first thing David and his soldiers did was to express their grief—they wept.
Don't suppress your emotions. Repressed pain often becomes prolonged emotional distress.
Don't hold back your tears. Let them flow. Healthy grieving is part of God's healing process for both your emotional and physical well-being.
In previous teachings, I shared four ways to respond during seasons of depression and deep discouragement:
▶️ 1. Talk to God.
Jesus did this in Gethsemane. He honestly expressed the burden on His heart.
«"Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour..." — John 12:27 (KJV)»
David also encouraged himself in the Lord.
Don't deny your pain. Bring it honestly before God, just as Jesus did.
▶️ 2. Talk to the devil.
Many arrows of depression come through negative thoughts and lies sponsored by the enemy. Fight back with God's Word.
Declare:
"The joy of the Lord is my strength. I refuse to be depressed. I belong to Christ, and my victory is sure."
▶️ 3. Talk to someone.
God blesses us with trusted friends, mentors, and spiritual fathers before whom we can be transparent. They help carry our burdens and strengthen us.
Don't allow ZIKLAG MOMENTS to isolate you. Stay connected to godly fellowship.
▶️ 4. Talk to yourself.
Like the psalmist, command your soul:
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits."
Speak life to yourself.
"FUNSHO, come out of this mood! God has given you the oil of gladness instead of mourning. You cannot remain in sadness!"
Remember, after Ziklag came recovery and restoration.
God told David:
"Pursue, for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all."
I declare over you today: God is giving you double for all your troubles. You shall pursue, overtake, and recover all in the mighty name of Jesus.
Hallelujah!
We are leaving ZIKLAG. We are coming out stronger, wiser, and better in Jesus' name.
In place of mourning, I receive the oil of gladness.
In place of ashes, I receive beauty.
*DECLARATION*
I break every stronghold of depression over my life. I boldly declare that the joy of the Lord is my strength. I receive the oil of gladness instead of mourning, beauty instead of ashes, and double for every loss. I shall pursue, overtake, and recover all. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Good morning! Are we Good To Go?
